Half Guard:Choke from the Top

This move is set up when B is on the bottom of half guard, has a deep underhook, and is on their side. Instead of getting an underhook with my left arm, I use my right to open B's collar and get a deep cross collar grip with my left hand. From here I switch my base as my right arm comes over B's top shoulder and grabs either B's belt or pants. While pulling up with the collar, my lat comes across the side of B's head and exerts downward pressure finishing the choke.

Rigan Machado Seminar

Technique 1:
B is in a seated guard position. I place my right hand on B's head to make sure there is enough distance between us so that they do not get up to take me down. My right hand pushes their head down so they are looking at the floor as my left hand grabs the same side collar. My right arm then comes around and over B's head as if going for a guillotine and my left hand passes the collar to my right hand. I then sidestep to the right so that B's right leg is forced to come up. I then grip B's right leg and begin sidestepping back to the left. I bury my head behind B's right arm and bridge over so that my hips are facing up. I can then roll over again and finish the loop choke by weaving my left arm under their head.

Technique 2:
This technique is identical to technique 1 as far as getting the lapel grip to set up the choke. The minor differences are: While coming in, I place my right knee on the ground and put my left hand on the ground on the inside of B's right thigh to keep them from turning into me. I then walk around to my right to clear both legs switching my knees so that my left knee is on the ground while my right leg is posted out. I pull up with my elbow finishing the modified guillotine.

Technique 3:
Everything is the same as technique 1 until you secure the collar grip. Once I have the guillotine grip, I straighten out my right arm and use my arm to bring B's head to the left side of my body so that the side of their head is resting against my left rib. From there my left arm comes over the head and underhooks B's right arm. B is now in a neck crank position but instead of finishing with a neck crank I walk around to my right and pull up to finish the choke.

Technique 4:
B is in seated guard and I get a same side double lapel grip. I pull B down and rest my chest on the back of B's head. From there I spin around to the back and control with grips.

Technique 5 and 6:
B shoots in for a single leg on my right leg. I turn 180 degrees and shoot my right hand between my legs to grip their elbow. From there I roll over my shoulder and shoot the omopolata. When B rolls out of the omoplata, I roll again but use my right hand to cup their bicep and trap them. From there I use my left hand to grab the back of their collar and use my left foot to help me shrimp out to my left, finishing the shoulder lock.

Technique 7 and 8:
B is in my guard. My left hand is gripping their same side sleeve at the elbow and my right hand has a cross collar grip. I place my right foot on the ground and shrimp out to my right to create space for my left foot. Once I have enough space, I place my left foot on B's hip, keeping my leg straight. My right foot then goes to B's bicep to control their left arm. In one motion I slide my left foot off B's hip and pull them back into my guard while still controlling their left arm. From here I push B's left arm back with my foot and hook their bicep from behind with my left foot.

The first technique is a sweep/armbar from the above position. Once I have their arm trapped with my foot, I place my right foot on the ground and sweep them back to my left. My right leg then comes up to their chest to keep them down. I then scoot my butt to the left to untrap my foot and bring it over their head to finish the armbar.

Other options:
After the arm trap I can simply bring my right leg over their neck to set up the triangle.

After the arm trap I can set up a shoulder lock on the trapped arm by simply rotatating around and grabbing the sleeve. This motion also sets up the omoplata on the right arm.
