Mount: High S Mount With Arm Trap

I am mounted on B and they are defending properly with their elbows in. I control both wrists and as I exert downward pressure I move my body up to a high s mount trapping one of B's wrists with my legs I use my hands behind B's head to make the position tight. This isolates one arm and opens up 3 options.

1: If B's right arm is isolated, my left arm can come around the outside of the arm so that their wrist is trapped behind my armpit. I can straight armlock from this position.

2: If B turns their arm I can switch to omoplata

3: I use both my hands behind B's head and lock up a triangle with their arm in. As I fall I go for the straight armlock or shoulder lock if the elbow doesn't come across my hip.

Open Guard: The Box

The box is a position that you get into when someone is trying to pass your guard. I bring my shin across B's stomach and my other leg comes over their head so that my calf is resting on the back of their head.

The grips differ, but if my left shin is across the stomach, my left hand will usually grab the same side leg. My right hand can grip the cross sleeve or the same side sleeve.

The move we did was off B trying to smash pass around the guard. If they bring their left arm around my top leg and grab my lapel, my right hand grips the sleeve. I then bring my right leg around B's head so that my hamstrings come across B's arm. I force my leg downwards to break B's grip on my lapel. From this position I create space and place my right foot on B's hip and bring my shin across the inside of B's arm. I bring my right knee outward to off balance B as I left with my left hand, sweeping them over.

Guard: Brabo Variation

If my partner is in my closed guard, I use my left hand to open the same side lapel. I bring the lapel over B's back and pass it to my right hand. My right hand has a palm down grip and I use the grip to control B's posture. My main objective is to now get B's right arm across my body to finish the choke. This can be setup by using my left arm to hook B's right arm on my shoulder and go for a straight arm lock. When B swivels their arm to escape, I can push the arm across and finish the choke by pulling down on the lapel.

If I cannot generate enough force with my arm from my closed guard I can reach around B's back with my left arm and start going towards the back. Once I am in an almost inverted position, I post my forehead on the mat and push the arm.

Half Guard:Choke from the Top

This move is set up when B is on the bottom of half guard, has a deep underhook, and is on their side. Instead of getting an underhook with my left arm, I use my right to open B's collar and get a deep cross collar grip with my left hand. From here I switch my base as my right arm comes over B's top shoulder and grabs either B's belt or pants. While pulling up with the collar, my lat comes across the side of B's head and exerts downward pressure finishing the choke.

Rigan Machado Seminar

Technique 1:
B is in a seated guard position. I place my right hand on B's head to make sure there is enough distance between us so that they do not get up to take me down. My right hand pushes their head down so they are looking at the floor as my left hand grabs the same side collar. My right arm then comes around and over B's head as if going for a guillotine and my left hand passes the collar to my right hand. I then sidestep to the right so that B's right leg is forced to come up. I then grip B's right leg and begin sidestepping back to the left. I bury my head behind B's right arm and bridge over so that my hips are facing up. I can then roll over again and finish the loop choke by weaving my left arm under their head.

Technique 2:
This technique is identical to technique 1 as far as getting the lapel grip to set up the choke. The minor differences are: While coming in, I place my right knee on the ground and put my left hand on the ground on the inside of B's right thigh to keep them from turning into me. I then walk around to my right to clear both legs switching my knees so that my left knee is on the ground while my right leg is posted out. I pull up with my elbow finishing the modified guillotine.

Technique 3:
Everything is the same as technique 1 until you secure the collar grip. Once I have the guillotine grip, I straighten out my right arm and use my arm to bring B's head to the left side of my body so that the side of their head is resting against my left rib. From there my left arm comes over the head and underhooks B's right arm. B is now in a neck crank position but instead of finishing with a neck crank I walk around to my right and pull up to finish the choke.

Technique 4:
B is in seated guard and I get a same side double lapel grip. I pull B down and rest my chest on the back of B's head. From there I spin around to the back and control with grips.

Technique 5 and 6:
B shoots in for a single leg on my right leg. I turn 180 degrees and shoot my right hand between my legs to grip their elbow. From there I roll over my shoulder and shoot the omopolata. When B rolls out of the omoplata, I roll again but use my right hand to cup their bicep and trap them. From there I use my left hand to grab the back of their collar and use my left foot to help me shrimp out to my left, finishing the shoulder lock.

Technique 7 and 8:
B is in my guard. My left hand is gripping their same side sleeve at the elbow and my right hand has a cross collar grip. I place my right foot on the ground and shrimp out to my right to create space for my left foot. Once I have enough space, I place my left foot on B's hip, keeping my leg straight. My right foot then goes to B's bicep to control their left arm. In one motion I slide my left foot off B's hip and pull them back into my guard while still controlling their left arm. From here I push B's left arm back with my foot and hook their bicep from behind with my left foot.

The first technique is a sweep/armbar from the above position. Once I have their arm trapped with my foot, I place my right foot on the ground and sweep them back to my left. My right leg then comes up to their chest to keep them down. I then scoot my butt to the left to untrap my foot and bring it over their head to finish the armbar.

Other options:
After the arm trap I can simply bring my right leg over their neck to set up the triangle.

After the arm trap I can set up a shoulder lock on the trapped arm by simply rotatating around and grabbing the sleeve. This motion also sets up the omoplata on the right arm.

Guard: Armbar to Sweep

I have B in my guard and want to armbar their right arm. I get a two on one sleeve grip and break B's posture while dragging their arm across my body. Once I have their arm straightened out, I shrimp my hips out and change my grips and use my right arm to extend out and keep B's arm extended. My left arm comes around B's back and grabs the lat while I bring my chest close to B's shoulder so that they cannot drag their arm back across.

I let go of the sleeve grip with my right hand and use it to post on the mat to help me come up for B's back. Placing my forehead on the mat, I look towards B's feet as I simultaneously bring my left shin across the back of B's head and use my left arm to come around B's right arm. I stay as tight as possible and grab as high as possible on my lapel. I then use my right hand and grip B's shin palm up and sweep them over. After kicking my left leg over their face, I adjust the lapel grip and grab their thigh with my left. I lean towards the thigh to break the defending grip and finish the arm bar.

Guard:Pendulum Sweep

This move is a combo that can start with an arm bar and lead to the pendulum sweep or omoplata/triangle depending on how B reacts.

I want to sweep B to my left so I grip behind B's right elbow so that my palm is cupping the point of the elbow. I use my right arm to hook B's left leg and shrimp my hips out, bringing my right foot towards B's armpit. My left leg then comes over B's head for the armbar. At this point I have two options: I can let go of the elbow grip and try to finish the armbar or I can use my underhook to bring B's leg to my shoulder and grab B's wrist with my right hand.

When B stacks me I simply sweep them over and land in mount. If they pull the arm out I can shoot omoplata/triangle.

Turtle: Back Take to Arm Bar

I am on top while B is turtled. I am on the left side.

My right arm comes around the back and gets a monkey grip on B's right wrist. My left arm comes across the front of B's chest, under the chin, and grips B's right arm. I use the grips to suck B's arm in and hop over their back to the other side. I tuck my right knee into their side and bring them onto their back. As I roll I use my left hand to push their face as my right hand grabs my lapel, finishing the armbar.

It's important when hopping over to not hop over towards their head. You have to hop across in a straight direction. Otherwise the roll becomes harder and the angle for the armbar changes.

Open Guard: Knee Shield

These are sweeps/submission when you have knee shield guard. One knee comes across the stomach while the other leg is in front of B's face. If I have my right shin across the body, my left leg is blocking B's face.

Sweep 1:
I hold B's right sleeve and use my left leg to bring B's head towards the mat. I pull the sleeve tight as my right leg elevates B over their head. It is essentially a scissor sweep from a different position.

Sweep 2:
I hold B's left sleeve and bridge over to bring my stomach to the mat. When they push back I do sweep 1 except holding the left sleeve instead of the right.

Submission:
Holding B's right sleeve. I use my left leg to push B's head away. I move my hip and bring my right shin out and put my right foot on B's hip. I elevate my hips using the foot on the hip as my left leg comes over B's head. I let go of the right sleeve and grab B's left arm to secure the triangle choke.
